If you have a lot of files in your computer, one of the best practices ever is to store them to a secure place. That’s why you might wish to move the location of your personal folders (such as My Documents, My Videos, Music, etc) somewhere else, let’s say to another hard drive or partition so that if something bad happens to your PC you will be able to recover everything easily. Here is what to do.
  1. First of all keep in mind that all your personal folder are located under C:\User\Your_Username in Windows 7.
  2. That said, let’s pretend that your operating system is located under the C partition.
  3. Create a new folder to anther partition such as D: for example.
  4. Now, right-click a personal folder of yours, such as My Documents, for example and click Properties.
  5. Under the Location tab, in the patch field, add the new location.
  6. Alternatively, if you don’t know the exact path, click the Mode button and find where you created the new folder. Once spotted click the Select Folder button, click OK.
  7. At this point the system will ask you to confirm that you really want to move your content to this new location. Click Yes and you are done!
