According to Microsoft there is a nasty bug affecting Windows 7 operating systems, lately. In fact, it may happen that a Windows 7 computer, configured to automatically log on when you turn the system on, might reset its taskbar settings for some unclear reasons. If this is your case, here is the hotfix to download and install on your PC.
As stated in Microsoft Article ID: 979155, the issue “occurs because of a race condition between Windows Explorer and Taskhost.exe.” The hotfix “is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next service pack that contains this hotfix.” To download the KB979155 hotfix, users will have to contact Microsoft uspport through this page: http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=979155. If you can not waste any time or you just want to download the hotfix right away, without having to call anybody on the phone, I have just got the files for you: i386 (32-bit or x86): Windows6.1-KB979155-x86.msu x64 (64-bit): Windows6.1-KB979155-x64.msu These hotfixes support any language!
