Does your Internet Explorer 8 or IE9 starts slow? You can fix slow startup of Internet Explorer. First we will have to find the cause of slow internet explorer startup. Possible cuases can be:

• Add-ons installed in IE.
• Toolbars installed in IE.
• Security software installed.

When we install different software, they install their toolbar for internet explorer. Many software even Yahoo Messenger will install Yahoo Toolbar in IE. If a messenger can install toolbar then imagine how many software out there would be glad to stick their toolbar into your IE. Being in hurry we usually don't notice and keep clicking next button without customizing installation. IE has Add-ons support but many add-ons can also cause in slow IE performance. Security software (e.g. Spybot Search and Destroy and other AntiViruses) can also interfere IE startup by checking different services. So what is the solution?

Slow IE Fix

You will have to check different aspects of IE for performance issues. Few are given below: Try these one by one, and stop where the problem is solved.

• Disable all toolbars in IE (View -> Toolbars).
• Start IE without Add-ons For Windows 7, Go to Start -> Search and type 'Internet Explorer'. Choose Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). This will open IE without loading any add-ons. If there is performance boost it means that there is any add-on which is creating problem. Disable the add-ons one by one to see which is the culprit add-on. To enable or disable add-ons, open Internet Explorer –> Tools –> Manage Add-ons.
• Stop the security software to see the performance boost in IE.
• If all fails then reset the Internet Explorer settings. To reset IE settings, open Internet Explorer –> Tools –> Internet Options –> Advanced. Under Reset Internet Explorer Settings, select Reset.
